Summary
Shen Jiu slips away like a wraith into the darkness of the night, the golden red hue of a burning shed illuminating his back. By the time the storm will have passed and the servants dare venture outside again, the building would have long since burned to ashes and Shen Jiu would be gone in the wind, finally free once more.
Breathing in the smell of ozone in the air, the boy hikes his small bag with provisions higher up his shoulder and confidently starts walking towards the path of his new future. Overhead, the dark clouds rumble threateningly and obediently follow in the boy’s wake.
Or, Shen Jiu wakes up in the middle of a familiar old shed, freaks the hell out and after confirming he’s not, in fact, dead, decides to forge his own path. He’s been enough of a punching bag the last go around, let someone else deal with the hot potato that is Cang Qiong Mountain; Shen Jiu is going on vacation! Now if only all these pesky spirits can leave him alone too...
