He said it like it was just a thing to know. Like how you had to peel bark away gently if you wanted to find the beetles underneath, or how the wind always made a hollow sound before rain. “You still think I should speak with him.” It sounded like an accusation, but Moomintroll knew Snufkin well enough to know it was a sincere question. His friend was just having an internal battle.
“I do,” Moomintroll said. “What can it hurt?”
“Oh, Moomintroll,” Snufkin said, his voice sad. “Everything.”
“I don’t understand.” There was nothing safer than family. They held you up and made you stronger. Why couldn’t Snufkin see that?
“And it makes me happy that you don’t. It shows just how loved you are.”
“But you’re loved too, Snufkin. Far more than you realise, I should think.”
After a bad injury leaves him bed bound for months, Snufkin struggles with his slow road to recovery, his feelings for Moomintroll, and the feral cat man he's never met who suddenly wants to be his dad.
