Wires peek out from the red-and-grey metal. The sight feels wrong, improper, like seeing the exposed nerves of someone unlucky enough to become swallowed by the maws of fate to be chewed up and spat out. The more rational part of you thinks it would be for the best to just leave it be; it might be one of Wily’s robots and you sure as hell wouldn’t risk getting injured, or worse. But the emotional part can’t bear to just leave him like that. He might have slaughtered some of your own in cold blood, lacking the empathy you had to even consider bringing him into your house.
You don’t know if his hair is dark brown or black or just obscured by shadow but it shines under the faint light. It looks fluffy for being synthetic. Some of it covers his eyes, unfocused and fixed into the horizon. Your resolve melts at the sight - even if he was just a machine, you still see yourself in him. He’s still a being with a mind; as a scientist, you’d know. It’s like creating life, and you wouldn’t let a life, human or not, end like that.

Summary
Some rough, brief, out-of-context Jughead/Protoman storyboarding from my AU. This universe is loosely based off the Protomen and Riverdale, while my characterizations come from a mix of the Mega Man Archie Comics, The Megas, The Protomen, Archie's Weird Mysteries, and Riverdale. I do intend to write more of this, for some reason.
Wily has long been in control of The City, Riverdale has been under martial law for years, Blues has been brought back to life once, and now he's teaming up with a battle-hardened adult Jughead to save the world or die trying (again). They fall in love, in their own peculiar way.
In these scenes, Jughead and Protoman are on the outskirts of The City, and not very confident they'll make it out of this alive.
(They'll be more or less okay.)
