Summary
What if you were able to look past the mask (metaphorically) and find out that the Nightmare was filled with sadness? And what if you could try to leave with her more peacefully... only for it to end badly due to the intervention of a certain Narrator?
Here's a brief view of how that ends up going:
The Nightmare: "NO! YOU HATE ME! NO, YOU CAN’T MEAN THAT! YOU LOCKED ME IN HERE—YOU’RE... SCARED OF ME! Y... THERE... YOU... YOU HATE ME! I KNOW YOU HATE ME!"
The Narrator: "That’s it, I’m not taking no for an answer now. The stakes are too high. You can’t just let her escape into the wor-- …to answer your question… yes, I can. At least… I can take control… now."
