If he was being completely honest with himself, which he rarely was, he was terrified by the idea of coming out. He kept meaning to do it, he’d find an opening, and then he’d freeze. He’d remember the way his family treated trans people, and remembered that Xisuma had been stuck in that environment for a longer time then he had, and that he wasn’t safe, he couldn’t be safe, he-
He stopped, counting out breaths for a minute or two before dropping onto the ground and leaning against the wall. He didn’t need to have a panic attack right now. He didn’t have time for that. Logically he knew that X would never be anything other than supportive of his gender, that he had hermits who were trans or enby or whatever it was, but he was still scared.
