“We?” Xephos questioned, a bit harsher than he intended.
She grinned at him. “Yeah! Both our buddies are missing, so we ought to team up to find them! It’ll be like…” She trailed off and tapped her chin. “It’ll be Zoeya and Xephos’ Epic Team-Up of Awesomeness!”
Xephos grimaced, dread pooling in his stomach as he allowed the woman to guide him. Zoeya and Xephos’ Epic Team-Up of Awesomeness, indeed…
Or, Lalna and Rythian go missing, and Xephos and Zoeya are tasked to find them! Surely nothing will go wrong.

Lalna blinked as he entered from the sudden brightness of the fluorescent bath lights, but easily recognized Xephos’ slim silhouette hunched over the toilet. He was panting from the aftermath of what Lalna could only assume was upheaving the contents of his stomach. His head rested against the porcelain rim.
Lalna crouched next to him and placed a hand on the small of his back. Xephos flinched, and Lalna heard a muffled, “Sorry.”
“Not feeling good, eh?” He joked. Xephos turned his head and gave him a semi-irritated look as if to say, ‘Gee, you think?’

He’d agreed to host Honeydew temporarily because he’d kind of assumed he'd died after he dropped off the face of the planet for about a year and a half. He'd then discovered there was some eternal evil called Israphel behind both the relatively recent influx of people needing help with chronic wasting diseases and the incredibly recent influx of people with acute ‘I got set on fire/stabbed by a cultist’ symptoms, and that the abrupt stop to both of them was, extraordinary, due the weird dwarf he kind of knew. And the guy he’d picked up. Who was distractingly attractive.
Not that Lalna had noticed that or anything.

Summary
Lalna blinked sharply, but the man before him didn’t vanish. It’d been months since he’d seen Xephos outside of his lab and, by the looks of him, he hadn’t left the place the whole while. He was even thinner than usual, hands spidery and face pale, but he was here, outside of Lalna’s base, looking like he wanted to curl up in shame. Xeph had never done well with the emotion, preferring to bluff through his own mistakes as if he could convince himself and everyone around him they’d never happened. It’d used to be endearing - then the mistakes had become less charming, and the bluffing had been less a bluff and more a memory wipe.
