Meanwhile, Maul and Savage must decide just how far they'll go to recover their Seer. (The answer is pretty damn far. Off the edge of the known galaxy, in fact.)

The yuuzhan vong invasion that happened almost a millennium ago still haunts the galaxy. The city of Coruscant was rebuilt after vong-forming to its full glory atop hundreds of layers of its own ruins mixed with vong-life, denying whatever signs of the invasion remained underneath any sunlight. The world is still shaping its morals, its views on what is natural and what is permitted, in opposition to the horrible practices of the invaders from the other galaxy.
