They’re sparkling, and oh, the asshole finds it funny, now does he?
Lance internally smirks.
Fine.
Two can play at this game.

Adam was not afraid to say that he was a romance at heart. He knew he was easy to swoon, he knew that, once the right man caught his eyes and he caught theirs, they would be set for life like a ‘happy ever after’s that he had read to Lance when he was young. So, when Shiro looked him dead in his eyes, a week before he had to go back to his homophobic family for what he hoped would be the last summer and said that they were going on a date the day before he left, his heart almost exploded.
After that, it was almost a fairy tale, they went on cute and funny dates, they got engaged in a beautiful and spectacular way, they even adopted a kid (though he was pretty sure that Keith was an alien rather than a human child). Next on the list was a long and happy marriage, next was getting that happy ever after that he craved since he was young.
And then he and Shiro broke up.
And then Keith ran away.
And then his little brother disappeared one night with two other cadets, never to be seen again, and he realized how much he had truly missed wearing the red tinted glasses of love.

And Lance turned to look at Keith, still focused in the way the sun slowly but surely faded into the darkness of the night. He took in all of his sharp features, in the way his lips were slightly curbed into a pleased smile, his pretty eyes. Lance allowed himself to drown in Keith, to recognize his beauty. Maybe, he thought, in that moment of silent comfortableness, he had been running from that to chase after the wrong person. Maybe Keith was what Lance needed.
