  Summary

  Achilles sits on a mossy clearing in the fields of Elysium, foggy rivers coursing around him. He's hunched over with his head in his hands as he mulls over all that was and all that could've been. Though he is convinced this is his fate, the serene silence of Elysium feels out of place and enrages him. Perhaps the pain will be eased if another listens to his story.

   

  This is a deep dive into Achilles's character based on what I've read in the Iliad and in The Song of Achilles. It's an exploration of love, fate, and the cruelty that those two can combine into. I am not okay, and I don't think Achilles was either, so it felt fitting to write this instead of sleeping. Check it out if you want some sappy romance with tragedy sprinkled in.

  Summary

  This story takes place in something of an alternate universe. It explores what would have happened had Morse made different choices after his break-up with his former partner.

  Please note: I have incredibly little knowledge of what it’s actually like to study at the University of Oxford. I did take a gander at what it’s like to do a defense of a paper. Hopefully this story wound up being accurate. Or thereabouts.

  Also, the little research I’ve done on key events in ancient Greek history was thrown together from a bunch of different sources – mostly Wikipedia, along with some history websites from various schools. (Why lie?) I am far from the most knowledgeable person about the battles of Thermopylae and Marathon. I did some simple looking-up, and cobbled things together the best that I could.
