Summary
Calum likes to joke and say that when Ashton was younger, he looked in the mirror and the reflection of him being a physical ray of sunshine is what made him go blind. Though that would have been a bittersweet notion, in reality, Ashton had been born blind and Calum was his best friend growing up.
Luke is a born pessimist, never being able to see that grand silver lining. Not like it's particularly that grand anyway. What is one person's silver lining, is someone else's rain cloud. That's just how he sees the world. The only exception is his best friend Michael, who can somehow get Luke to see something happy once in a while.
The events that lead up to an unconventional love, showing that while two people can be so different, similar circumstances can lead then to all the right places.

Enid runs, her paws sinking into the soft ground, the algae-like grass flattening beneath her weight. The wind, cool and sweet, rushes and sings around her as she sprints across the grassland. With a loud yip, she crests a hill and throws herself down onto the ground, letting herself roll down the incline and cover herself in the fresh-smelling flowers. Her excess energy finally expelled, Enid rises from her prostrated position and shakes herself off, dislodging some petals that still cling to her fur. She stretches and then trots over to her favorite tree in this expansive algae prairie, standing alone and majestic.
Enid yawns, her tongue curling over her big, saber-like fangs, and finally reaches her tree, only to freeze as she looks up into the upside-down, weeping willow-like canopy and locks eyes with a rather funny-looking raven. She blinks, and it blinks back. She tilts her head to the side, it mimics her. To the other side, it follows. She swishes her tail hopefully and lolls her tongue out, giving the raven a goofy doggie smile. It blinks, flaps its wings, and hops over to a higher branch.
