    Meanwhile, JY-5 (now Jayce) only knows three things. That he must neither harm, nor disobey a Human; that the word ‘must’ is a circumstantial term at best; and that he is not a slave, despite all appearances to the contrary.

    Oh. And that he’s in love with Viktor.

The hour was late, way too late to be up considering he had lab work to return to in less than six hours, and yet Viktor’s body was too worked up to rest. Viktor contemplated for a moment whether to close his eyes and will himself to sleep without doing this. But the siren’s call of a pre-sleep orgasm made him waver, made him need.

    Viktor murmured to himself as he loosened his buttoned clothes, sliding them carefully off his shoulders and legs so that his skin was exposed to the cool air in the room. Laying back, Viktor enjoyed the feeling of the soft blanket against his back where it brushed languorously against his flushed, naked body. A simple orgasm was all he needed.

      i read this during a lot of my shifts at my job. by the time i got to the thirty year mark of the fic, i started to regret it and hoped the patrons didn't see my eyes getting watery 3 i've never seen this concept done for any fandom, and somehow it hurts and is so much more heartbreaking than if they were both human. jayce is always so full of love in all his depictions, and even as a steel box, he had so much emotion. every time he longed to hold viktor with the warmth of a man, to console him with the heart of a person, to kiss him as a lover; it tugged at my feelings way too much for a machine. how it must feel as an artificially intelligent computer, to actually FEEL, is devastating. i did computer science for two years, and seeing viktor becoming so dependent, so affectionate to something he created is beautiful. steb and lyra were such a great, uncommon adding. seeing jayvik children in fics is always amazing, but seeing her as the daughter of steb and viktor instead, and having jayce long for her to be theirs instead.. oh, at least kiss the brick while you're at it. in all timelines, jayce will yearn forever for viktor, no matter either of his forms. i cannot wait to make fanart, and imagine what jayce's frame would look like in my head as you (may i mention you did SO GOOD with writing descriptors) described. i've always avoided fics where viktor dies, or is deteriorating. i just can't take it after watching s2 three times. but this was such a gentle, heartbreaking documentary of how far viktor has gone. living at least twice his life expectancy, creating life, being in a loving family. you might have convinced me to start reading angst a lot more because i haven't felt this intense of an emotion for a very long time. seeing jayce attempt to shut himself down the first time was already devastating, especially given that he was just such a jealous little robot that he blue screened; but after seeing viktor plead with him on his deathbed not to die, it made steb's cutting of his wires so much worse in my head. the references to the canon show, the mentions of the cosmos in the last jayce entry made me light headed for how upset (as in "oh my god poor baby") i was. i have never written a note this long. but i have never read a fic so breathtaking. i want you to know it was beautiful. i struggle with feeling loss as a neurodivergent person. reading this helped me contain it in my mind just a little better. i've watched as someone i love denies care, as they disintegrate themselves. as they further themselves into this pit of despair. viktor has done this, canonically and in so many fics. and reading this-- seeing these two, jayce and viktor, hold so much affection for each other, man and robot-- i felt it tenfold. thank you for this.

    Viktor uncurls his fingers and leans back. Oh, how this enraptures him. The irony isn’t lost on him, an android desperate to be human and a human desperate to be machine. But, perhaps, if the transition could work in one direction, it could work in the other as well. Commutative property, and all that.

    A deep breath. Here goes: “I think I can make your dream a reality. If you’ll allow me to,” he tacks on haphazardly.
