Summary
Minutes later, when he’s about done disinfecting the wound, he stares down at it and wonders what it would be like to dig his fingers inside, to twist it this way and that. To lean down and lick at the blood still seeping through. Instead, he caresses the wound with soaked gauze, presses gently on the jagged seam.
Even when he wants to be his most violent with Hannibal, he can never seem to actually go forward with it. There’s still a large part of him that loves this monster, in all his glory and dignified weaponry.
“Who did this to you?” He asks, quiet in the silence. It’s almost sacred, the silence, but he breaks it down nonetheless in order to get an answer he’s been dying to know since Hannibal first said his name in pained relief. Hannibal, above all else, laughs, and Will wants to yell in frustration. The fact that Hannibal thinks it’s funny, his anger, is hurtful.
“I should keep that to myself,” Hannibal murmurs, as quiet as Will was. “I find it in myself to be rather cautious of you once you learn of that fact.”
“I don’t care who hurt you,” Will says angrily. Then, so as not for Hannibal to misinterpret his words, says, “I’d still want to kill them.”
