Summary
Kaede is a girl with multiple names and dull black eyes that shine like buttons. Tsumiki-Nanami is the name she went by, before her mother died. Then, it was just Tsumiki. Now, she is choosing Akamatsu.
Her siblings wouldn't recognize the name, and it is not what her tombstone would say. It is the name of the donor that gave her life. She's never met him, but he must have been kind. Kaede Akamatsu exists because he wanted to help her mothers have a child, so he must have been kind.
Akamatsu means “red pine.” It's a tree, you know. But “pine,” in English, also means “to long for.” Kaede Akamatsu is surrounded by spiderlilies and classroom desks, and she looks upon the TV screen to the outside, and she “pines.”
When their pink blood rusts, it turns red.
