Summary
Briar Evergreen is revered as a heroine after defeating power-hungry Ranrok. In a failed attempt to save her mentor, Professor Fig, she chooses to absorb the magic hidden within the basement of Hogwarts, exactly what the Keepers forbade. Unbeknownst to her, absorbing the power stored in the Repository came with consequences that she can neither physically—or mentally—handle. Briar loathes the idea of sharing her burdens, but if she doesn’t learn to depend on others, this new magic of hers would happily eat her alive.
