Everyone had taught him that he was an employee, a substitute, a placeholder.
When he brought Bruce back, he had limited the time he spent with them to just preparing for patrols and reporting after patrols, and going to the cave where he went to get first aid in case of injury. He was slowly preparing to withdraw from his lawless life, or at least separate himself from the bats completely.
