Summary
Sam still stared at the bookshelf, but now he wasn't really seeing the bookshelf crammed with books and tomes that he had organised only weeks before. No, right now, he was looking beyond the bookshelf. He imagined a window. If it were an accurate window for the bunker, all he would see would be the brown, earthy underground of Lebanon, Kansas, seeing as the underground Men of Letters bunker was, of course, underground. Though, at times like this, Sam liked to look at any set wall and imagine there was a big window that would let the sun in to warm Sam's skin, brighten the bunker, and let the world in. Sam would smile and have a hot cup of coffee, stare at the world outside that he and Dean work so hard to protect. Maybe he'd see lights flash across the sky. And maybe, just maybe, it would snow.
- or -
Mostly just Sam's thoughts as he sits alone at night, unable to fall asleep.

Summary
Dean turns the box over in his hands. It seems harmless enough, save for the fact that it's glowing. It isn't very big -- no bigger than a tacklebox -- but it's incredibly heavy. It feels like it weighs more the longer he looks at it, scoping out the Enochian text etched into the box’s metal bracketing.
"Michael?"
"Aye," Rowena nods, her ponytail bouncing. "His parting shot, you might say."
"Doesn't that mean opening it is the last thing I should do? Why not just destroy it?"
Crossing her arms over her chest, Rowena glares. "Oh, I don't know. Maybe it's hundreds of years of experience telling me what a God-awful plan that is. Or perhaps because you and I both know that is exactly what Michael expects you to do."
That… actually makes sense.
Dean looks down at the box in his hands. "Okay, so we open it," he decides.
"Not we," Rowena corrects, stretching up on tiptoes to tap one finger against the point of his nose. "You."

"I never should have tricked you like that." He murmured in response.
Tricked him? Tricked him how? Sam felt panic bubbling in their chest. They felt sick. What had Dean done?
"Dean, what did you do?" When Dean refused to answer again, panic began rising faster. "Tell me! Dean, what did you do?" Sam demanded.
Dean finally looked up from where he was staring off, tears in his eyes. "If I knew what it was like to be possessed by something, unable to control your body, I never would have tricked you into being possessed by Gadreel."

Sam and Dean finally talk after Dean regains control post Michael possession.

Summary
Dean's thought about this, about all of it. Demons, angels, his parents being together, placed for some almighty purpose by some all-knowing God. Fate, destiny. And then the fact he has no choices, it's all - everything has been written for him. Even the death of who he loves.
No, hell no. God's a dick and it's all bullshit.

Written for SPN_Masquerade Fall 2021: The Pornucopia, for the prompt:
After a lifetime of being able to look over and reach out when they need to, sleeping in separate rooms in the bunker doesn't always work for them. On rough nights, they end up sharing a room and sometimes a bed. Some nights they need to talk to each other to know they're both real and alive, sometimes they need to touch, sometimes they only need to see that the other is there.
Or - Dean doesn't sleep well after Michael has left the building and Sam can't sleep well when he finds out.

A coda/fix-it for the episodes Gods and Monsters and The Scar, plus a coda past what we see in those episodes. The show set up some really great things and failed to deliver, so here we are.
This does deal with Ptsd and anxiety, so I will add warnings at the beginning of each part!

Summary
The ocean.
The wind blows harshly against his back, pushing him towards his destiny.
What will Sam do when he finds out that Dean drugged him and bolted?
He can’t just not call.
Dean dials the number. Cass number.
“Hello Dean.” He can practically hear Cass squint. “Where are you? The cell signal is substandard.”
“Well.” He says brightly. “That’s the ocean for you.”
“You went to the beach?” Cass voice is dry and unbelieving.
“Cass.” He says, “I just called to say… goodbye.”
“Wait!” Cass says urgently. “Where are you going Dean? Is it fishing? Because if it is, I can come with you. I’m quite capable of standing immobile with a stick.”
Dean smiles. “Thanks for the offer Cass, but no.”
Dean hears a loud sound then. Like a door slamming shut. The only place with a door that sounds like that… is the bunker.
The bunker with poisoned Sam.
“You’re at the bunker.” He whispers in horror.
He almost drops the phone into the ocean.
This was a mistake.
Cass must have been tracking the call all this time. And Dean had babbled on and on and now Cass probably has his-
“And you’re on Vágur. You always did pick the best places to die.”

Summary
Dean stared at the bottom of his glass, not feeling the sting of whiskey down his throat, not feeling anything. It had been only a month after Team Free Will 2.0 finally defeated Michael for good, and expelled him out of Dean. Things were back on schedule, Jack training, Sam leading, and Dean…
Who knows?

Summary
And Cas is there, the fool, leaning against the kitchen counter, or at least an imitation of it, dark oak, splintered, time-worn, much like Cas himself. When Dean looks at him, he doesn’t see Cas — he sees the slump of his shoulders, the valleys underneath those tired eyes, the angry red marks coiling around his neck – from love and violence alike – yet to be healed.

Summary
Dean decided to throw away everything, including his own life—choosing a watery, dank, coffin at the bottom of the ocean over the possibility that Michael could escape his dive bar-esque mind palace.
Castiel wasn't pleased with this decision. In fact, he fucking hated it. He was so frank with his disapproval that Dean eventually got fed-up and told him "it was over". Subsequently, no one was there to talk Dean down from kamikaze-ing himself below sea level. Sam was complacent. Mary was off with new Bobby. And everyone else that would've disapproved was kept in the dark.
And then Jack killed Michael.
Months after Dean's suicidal plan was knocked off the rails, a case needs solving.
