Kurama never expected his life to take such a drastic turn again so soon after the Dark Tournament. But here he was listening to his mother tell him that she was getting married. He would have a father again. And while that was interesting to him, he was much more interested in the fact that he was going to be a brother. Especially since he'd never had a sibling before.
Things had changed drastically for Ichigo since the utter defeat of Aizen. Her dad had finally taken her sisters and abandoned her. Kisuke had signed papers and adopted her. They had moved to another town. And yes, weird things were still happening all the time.
But that was okay, she could handle it. She has a new family now. Which includes a brother that she's pretty sure isn't completely human. But whatever.
She's down for the next fiasco. Especially if it means finally, maybe, finding her happily ever after.
Little did she know- her brother was trying to find his own too.

Everyone assumes that because Koenma chooses the form of a toddler- that he is one. No one seems to realize- or rather recall the fact that he's been around since the beginning.
People also don't realize the toll that living such long lives can take on beings such as himself.
But Koenma knew first-hand what eons without any humanity did to him. It was like being frozen alive.There was a certain numbness that you couldn't escape no matter how hard you may try.
That was why he was forced to bind himself to a human girl. She alone would be the heart, the light, love, and empathy that he didn't possess any longer.
He had found Ichigo Kurosaki shortly after she had first become a Soul Reaper. Not realizing how desperately he truly needed her by his side. Nor knowing just how lovely and unique her soul really was.

Summary
Kyoko Urameshi never had a good relationship with her younger brother. Yusuke was always her opposite; she considered him a troublemaker and lacking in intelligence, just as he considered her mean and incompetent.
But when she saw her brother's body in a coffin, her world shattered into a thousand pieces. Upon hearing the news that Yusuke might come back to life, Kyoko became even more interested in the mysterious world that surrounded her brother, diving headfirst into a new life filled with tribulations.

Everyone was silent for a moment.
"Who else has access to that other than you?" Kurama asked.
"Only me, Botan, and every other person who deals with the dead." Koenma sighed.
"Meaning anyone and his mother..." Yusuke sighed frustrated that he was going to be placed when he died by 'these' people who couldn't even keep their valuables from getting stolen. "I still don't get what this got your diaper all in a bunch for."
"There were several tapes stolen, all having to deal with the last case you all worked on."
Dead silence filled the room.
"You don't mean…" Kurama started his eyes wide with dread.
Koenma nodded.
"Yes. Whatever videos taken, they involved one of you from the Chapter Black incident."

“I have to go!” Natsume shouted before running away, his heart pounding against his chest. “Thank you for helping me!”
Natsume was pretty far away by then, so he couldn’t be sure, but he thought he heard the older boy splutter, “I didn’t do it to help you. I was just bored, alright?!”
In which Yusuke comes across Natsume and takes him under his wings, if only for a bit.
