But unknown to them, it was saved by a human war veteran, one of the few humans to ever walk in the hidden city. He found the little turtle and took it home, and named them Cellini.

The Sirius Black that Remus had loved was dead. He died in the possession of his family sometime over the summer, leaving little more than the other's body and fragments of his damaged soul as scraps for Remus and the Potters to care for. He was more marionette than boy, an automaton at most: He could move and do simple tricks like people could, but the movements weren't natural and there was often a hollow look behind his eyes- when not tasked with something and left unsupported, he was prone to collapse and difficult to repair.
While this Sirius would never be the same, Remus still loved the poor, broken imitation he had. It hurt to love Sirius, but Remus was accustomed to pain.
With the end of summer fast approaching and Sirius's progress remaining slow, Remus can't help but worry about Sirius's future.
