Summary
Iwaizumi Hajime was an undercover officer with a single objective: Infiltrate the Seijoh Syndicate of the Yakuza and tear them down from the inside out. His primary target was the boss, Oikawa Tooru. The job itself was simple enough, until Iwaizumi got in too deep and absconded not only from the mission, but from the city itself.
Now, two years later, he’s dragged back into Tokyo’s unsavory underworld. A grisly string of murders is plaguing the city, and the culprits are most definitely Yakuza. The problem is discovering which Syndicate is responsible, and Iwaizumi – the leading expert on Yakuza affairs – is the man most suited for the job.
Despite his determination to stay away from Tokyo – and from Oikawa – Iwaizumi finds himself right back in the middle of Seijoh, and it feels a lot more like home than he’d care to admit.

- 'His eyes dropped to the photographs, to the bullet holes in the back of a dozen different skulls.
This wasn’t his problem, but he couldn’t just walk away from it. He had to do something, and his effort was going to be wasted with Sawamura.
He realized he’d already made his choice when he’d shown up at the club to see Oikawa.
“I’m with you.”
Oikawa’s face didn’t immediately change. Perhaps he was waiting to see if Iwaizumi had something to add, or if he was joking.
The declaration lingered, and a slow smile split Oikawa’s face.
“Good decision,” he said, his voice wrapped in false syrupy sweetness and smug satisfaction. “Welcome home, Hajime.”' ALDSKJFHALKJH ?? -

To stimulate Japan's low birthrates and take most of the guesswork out of dating, a beeper system was biologically developed in people's wrists, an audible confirmation to show romantic compatibility.
Iwaizumi's beeper has been going off for Oikawa since they've been kids. Oikawa's has only ever been silent.

“Kindaichi,” Hanamaki laughs, striding across the room to pull him into a tight hug. “Kindaichi Yutaro you son of a bitch, I thought you were dead.”
Kindaichi blinks, glancing to his left to see Kunimi - sitting crossed legged on a table next to a very sweaty looking Watari - looking just as confused as he feels. “Has— Has everyone lost their minds? It’s just a game of paintball.”
“Just a game of paintball?” Hanamaki parrots, eyes widening as he takes another step forwards until they’re standing practically nose to nose. “Kindaichi, Kindaichi, my poor naive Kindaichi. This is more than just a game.”
Kindaichi frowns. “It...is?”
“Kindaichi,” Oikawa says sharply, shoving Hanamaki out of the way so he can grasp Kindaichi tightly by the shoulders. “This is a matter of life or death.”
“I mean, I don’t think it’s really tha—”
“Life or death,” Oikawa, Hanamaki, Matsukawa and Iwaizumi say loudly in unison.

“No,” Oikawa gasps, bottom lip wobbling, eyes filling with tears. “Not Mad-Dog-chan, no.”
Iwaizumi shakes his head and glances away. “I can’t believe…”
Hanamaki closes his eyes and rests his forehead on Matsukawa’s shoulder. “Why him? Why?”
Matsukawa pats him gently, shoulders shaking ever so slightly.
Watari pulls Yahaba in for a hug.
Kunimi covers his face.
“Chill,” Kyoutani says with a shrug, lifting up his shirt slightly. “I’m not hit, it’s blood. Cut myself on a door.”
“Oh,” says Yahaba. “Thank God.”' -

Summary
“I figured it out about a month before graduation.”
When Oikawa explains this, they are sitting together in a boat in the middle of Lake Pichola, India, hiding at the end of the fourteenth century with no one to bother them. Hajime sifts his hand through the water to cool his face while Oikawa pauses to collect himself, sights fixed on the royal blue of an emerging night sky. He holds two fingers up to the yellowed moon, pinches it into forced perspective, and palms it completely to force the light out of his eye. At the view, he smiles like he’s defeated all the knowing gods, the fates and their fickle futures, and humbles himself from the stratosphere.
“You know the story, Iwa-chan,” Oikawa tells him, back on earth. “Boy jumps to Miyagi in attempt to run away. It is raining, when he meets another, and they are both five years old. Neither of them can decide if he is from years past, or years to come. Hell, he could be a monster, for all they know.”

Bookmarker's Notes
- This was such a good (pain-inducing) read
- Time-traveler Iwaizumi & Time-traveler Oikawa
- such a think-piece for me like holy shit
- "This Oikawa is about to ruin any chances of ever coming back for good.
"You got the jacket back. And the binoculars," he says in diversion. "I'm glad."
"It's rude to give presents back," Hajime tells him, holding up the spectacles, "but I can forgive you if you don't go through with this.” He lets himself sink at the plead. “Don't go with them,” he continues, “and don't take the blame for all those murders. Because I've seen the city chase you, and you shouldn't have to run anymore."
Oikawa doesn't say a thing back to him. He just does his best to keep his facades, leaning over the railing and breathing out a sigh at the ground below. Into the receiver, he laughs again, but it sounds like he can barely breathe.
"Please," Hajime forges on. "Think about everything you're throwing away for me—"
“Yeah? And what do you think things will look like without you, then?” Oikawa asks back, defiant. From his side, he peers back up, eyes on fire, the rest of him trying to snarl up a smile. “You think that’s something I want?”
Hajime knows the answer," -

- College Volleyball Athlete Atsumu & College Painter Sakusa
- "The earth would continue to crumble between them until they stood on opposite sides of the Grand Canyon. No amount of bridges would ever be enough when Sakusa simply wasn't the person Miya needed. He was the kind of person who deserved morning kisses while still tangled up in sheets, fingertips running through his hair and descending to his face, neck, chest and waist, tight embraces when it was cold, whispered ‘I love you’s in his ear at least three times a day. Miya Atsumu deserved to be loved.
And Sakusa wasn’t sure he was capable of giving him that kind of love." OH MY GOD ??
- "Sakusa Kiyoomi invaded Atsumu’s life like a hurricane, a disturbance in his atmosphere. The strength of his winds destroyed Atsumu’s solid structures like it would do to an entire village. His gaze was enough to take all the air from Atsumu’s lungs and make a mess of his every thought. His words were solid and blunt, knives being painfully carved inside Atsumu’s heart, yet he yearned for more of that kind of bleeding." SHEESHH -

Summary
Sakusa’s eyes are very dark naturally, sucking in all surrounding rays of light and crushing them in his pupils. For an athlete, he is rather pale. His lips look very pink in comparison. Atsumu is suddenly catastrophically aware that in this instance, ‘accent’ is a euphemism. “Good enough for your Olympic-size ego, Miya?”
(In which Atsumu realizes that he is attracted to Sakusa Kiyoomi in the most inconvenient way possible.)

- 'Suga tries to avoid Hinata’s slack faced stare as he carries the boy back to their captain. He hands Hinata off to Daichi silently and takes a deep breath.
“Hinata.” Suga starts, still trying to avoid eye contact.
Hinata makes a small acknowledging noise and Suga nearly loses his resolve. Daichi gives him a sympathetic look from around Hinata’s body.
Suga tries again, “Please stop disrupting practice.”
Hinata nods. Suga wants to cry.
“I know you want to fight Kageyama, but you need him to set for you.” Suga fights through it.
“Yes, Suga-san.” Hinata mumbles almost instinctually, eyes still staring straight at the grey haired setter.
“I can’t do this.” Suga says after a moment, plucking him from Daichi’s hands and turning him to face the captain instead. “You do it.”
Daichi snorts like it’s not a big deal but then gets an eyeful of Hinata’s compliant, waiting face and has to turn around and breathe. “Shit.”
“Be a captain.” Suga goads.' -

Kiyoomi closes his eyes, slowly. He prays that the ground opens up and swallows him whole. He prays that a whole earthquake rocks Tokyo and brings the place down on him, specifically. He prays that some higher power decides to strike him with lightning right this minute.

It's Kiyoomi's last resort to ask a stranger for help finding his sister's missing kids, but it's not like this night can get any weirder, and Miya Atsumu's kind of hot.

- “So,” Kiyoomi says, clearing his throat after a beat of blessedly peaceful quiet.
“Ya wanna know what our first move is, huh?” Kiyoomi purses his lips, but he nods. This is true. It’s frustrating that a stranger can read him that well, but there’s really not much point in trying to be obtuse. It’s just on ten, and Itsumi said she probably wouldn’t be back until three at least, which is a decent amount of time but not nearly enough.
“I really don’t have any leads. This is my second time meeting the kids, and they don’t really like me.”
“Have ya considered that might be ‘cause ya look at them like yer hopin’ they spontaneously combust?” Sakusa shoots him a glare that withers. Miya shrugs, sends another call to voicemail. He now has six missed calls from a contact named me (dark mode) and a further three from rin-rin. Strange.
“Do you have anything helpful to contribute, or are you just here to be annoying? I can always drop you off back at your truck, if it’s the latter.”
“Chill,” Miya says, and immediately loses a solid twenty percent of his sex appeal, “it was just a question. How old are they?”
- Riko throws open the door before either Oikawa or Iwa-chan can get to it, glaring daggers at Kiyoomi. The reason for their slowness is obvious when Oikawa appears behind her, his partner wrapped around him with his lips attached to his neck. Riko points an accusing finger at them.
“They just made out the whole time!”
“It’s late,” Oikawa says breezily. “You made us stay up past our bedtime because you tried to cause trouble for your oji-san. And we didn’t make out the whole time.”
“Do you think Takeru’s okay? Poor thing was laughing so hard I thought he might pop a lung.” Iwa-chan doesn’t sound worried in the slightest. Riko scowls, folding her arms across her chest.
“He’ll be fine! Who can blame him, after all? Imagine getting catfished because you’re into stupid college boys.”
“Like you’ve never been into a stupid college boy.”
“On the contrary! My college boy was very smart. And so handsome.” Iwa-chan makes a face that can only be described as a smirk as Oikawa pats his cheek. Riko turns her outraged expression onto Kiyoomi, obviously looking for some kind of solidarity. Kiyoomi has none for her. After everything she’s put him through tonight, watching an obviously happy couple enjoy each other’s company is the least she deserves. -

- daichi is dumb boy !
- 'Suga draws back, gently pats his back. It feels very fraternal, and not as romantic as Daichi expected it to be. Suga is regarding him very seriously, and Daichi can feel his own face scrunching up into something vaguely resembling a question mark. Suga looks like he’s weighing his words, as if saying the wrong thing will just one-shot shatter Daichi into itty-bitty little pieces.
“Daichi,” Suga says, squeezes his shoulder, “you know you can always tell me if something is wrong.”
“Nothing’s wrong,” Daichi says, with a small frown, “I just think we should hug more?”
Suga still looks dubious.'
