“Who’s he looking for?” Marlene asked, not even bothering to whisper which James thought was actually very rude.
Remus smirked from behind Sirius. “Dunno.” He propped his chin on Sirius’ shoulder, “But his neck always gets a bit red when he’s pretending he’s not thinking about Regulus.”
“I am not-”
“Did you invite him?” Lily said, arching a brow.
James harrumphed stroppily. “Didn’t have to. Pandora did.”
“Ah.” Lily reached over Remus to pat his shoulder. “Well, you’re doing a really good job of pretending not to care, lovely.”
James didn’t answer. Because he was suddenly distracted and also choking on a mouthful of beer. Beside him Evan snorted which James ignored, because maturity.
Regulus Black had just walked into the pub.
