Summary
Princess Mary is turning twenty-three soon, one year closer to her coronation, and still hasn't felt anything towards men. Still, to please her parents, she's agreed to an arranged marriage with the crown prince of a neighboring kingdom - but only because he has confessed to her that he himself isn't interested in her, and has found a relationship of his own.
Late on the night of her birthday, Mary meets the soon-to-be wife of her kingdom's head military officer - and she's one of the most beautiful women she's ever met. Mary's not sure why, but this woman, with raven-black hair and eyes just as dark, stays in her mind.
She tries not to think too much about her, though, since there's no way they could be together... completely unaware of the other woman's thoughts on her, too.
With the help of Mary's fiancé, his lover, a freakshow performer, and the palace gardener, the two women slowly come together. They both know countless obstacles will get in the way, but they have to try. After all, Mary's mother always told her to follow her heart, and her heart is wherever that beautiful, loving woman is.
