The man lay on the side of the road, slumped over the curb as if he’d been trying to step up it but had given up halfway and simply collapsed over it instead. It left his body at a ridiculous angle, one that surely couldn’t be comfortable. He was pretty sure that it didn’t matter how uncomfortable it was though, the man was definitely too out of it to care. It was hauntingly familiar, the scent of blood, the sound of his ragged breaths, the way that when he finally rested his hands on the man he could feel him flinch even in his current state. He knew who it was without even having to check. Still, his hand wandered down, sliding down a rough leather jacket until it reached a gloved hand. One, two, three, four. The pinkie was nowhere to be found.
The day had come, he’d found him, Xue Yang was back.

.Xiao Xingchen is happy in the new life he has been given. With Song Lan safe by his side everything is going surprisingly well. And then he finds a man bleeding at the side of the road.

Xiao Xingchen sits on an elevated floor in a teahouse. It seems even the staff at this mundane establishment could tell he was no normal man, that this soul belonged nowhere on the ground with the rest of the common folk. He should have always been treated like this.
He’s wearing his beautiful white robes that wrap around his frame and then billow at his sleeves, Xue Yang catches glimpses of his narrow waist as he lifts a cup to his lips. He’s not wearing that oversized outer layer that hides that figure under loose fabric. His sword is not wrapped with white cloth, as it was in his past life, and instead lay delicately beside him and the silver shines in full glory against the sunlight.
Xue Yang can’t move from the entrance, because Xiao Xingchen looks more perfect than he had ever remembered.
