It’s been thirteen years since Beacon Academy fell, and nearly twenty-five since Summer Rose had left. Salem has been neutralized, the kingdoms are rebuilding, and memorials for the dead have been happening far and wide. Ruby is nearing the age Summer was, and she’s been drowning in grief.
Qrow is drowning too, drowning in nightmares and alcohol and all of his failures.
As their paths collide head-on, they both realize hope really does come from the unlikeliest of places. The question then becomes, can love with the wrong person help someone be better? (And is it worth it in the end?)

Both of them have a choice to make: they can either trust in each other and in the help that others have offered, or they can cling to the tendencies that have allowed them to stay alive until now.
If Ruby is being honest with herself, neither option seems sustainable in the long run. But they’re going to have to choose, and fast – they’ve only got so much left to give before it falls apart for good.
