Summary
“Donnie!” The blue-clad turtle cried, his expression turning wide eyed and relief filled.
Something sent a pang through Donatello’s chest. Painful, and unnerving. This was one of his brothers. Which one? He felt ashamed to admit it, but he couldn’t distinguish it. His brain felt too fogged and scrambled to put together some coherent name to the face. But it was the face of one of his brothers, and that is all that he had to take into account right now.
The slider lowered his Odachi, setting his other hand out gently; A gesture indicating that the softshell should take it.
This was his chance. The escape he so desperately craved.
“Hurry up, Von Ryan! We don’t have all night.” Kendra shouted through the small speaker.
A sharp beep echoed through the space, causing Othello to suppress a yelp as he jumped practically five feet in the air.
No shock came after.
That was a warning.

TLDR; The Purple Dragons kidnapped Donatello. The siblings race to find their missing brother, but, even if Donnie's family is able to save him from the tech club's torture, will he really be the same as before?
(AU takes place about a month or so after the episode "Breaking Purple")

He blinked slowly, furrowing his brow. Swallowing was a struggle. His chest twinged. He felt embarrassed when he whispered, “I don’t…”
“That’s okay,” she soothed. “I… I’m sorry for not being here sooner. The guys, they told me what was going on. They told me everything.”
Donnie stared at her blankly, trying to piece together what she meant. Everything. What was everything supposed to mean?
Oh.
It slammed into him all at once. The large hand shattering his wrist, his head cracking against the floor, screaming as Leo ran his blade through his shoulder, Raph ripping through his shell like paper, dragging him back by the ankle, shattering his plastron, hands around his throat, squeezing, being dizzy and delirious and terrified and begging—
They’d tried to kill him. They’d tried to kill him and she knew.

Summary
In one timeline, after Leo's hubris causes the bad guys to get away. Donatello chooses to ignore Warren and Hypno's theft, after all it was only one measly cursed trinket. How much harm could it possibly do? He joins his retreating brothers, deciding to handle it later and return home.
In another, Donatello is bitter, and whatever the Foot Clan is planning leaves a bad taste in his mouth, they had already caused enough trouble in his life, leading the Shredder to their lair was one of many grudges he still held against them. So a cursed item in their hands wasn't something they should be taking lightly.
Donnie becomes suspicious, and after a particularly intense fight with his two dumb-dumb older brothers, he decides to investigate alone, and with what he sees next, Donatello chooses to finally stop being so complacent. For the sake of his slowly shrinking family, and his world.
This decision changes nothing, and absolutely everything at the same time.
