Very AU Torchwood story set in Anne McCaffrey's Federation Universe, on the planet of Pern. I am going to assume that you have read the Dragon Riders of Pern series... See note if you haven't !!
When the "Red Star" begins its return towards Pern, Torchwood Weyr lead by Yvonne (gold Queen "Mena") and her Weyr Leader B'Lis (Bronze Cadence) try to recreate some of the founders original experiments to protect the planet, but they go horribly wrong. It's up to Torchwood Holds leader, Lord Harkness to resolve the problems at the Weyr. Can he do this in time to meet the red stars challenge? -

Summary
Written for the 2009 apocalyptothon. I started writing this before season 3, and decided not to flounce off in the huff when I got Jossed (damn you, RTD, damn you to Hell). My prompt was 'A century (or more) after the Apocalypse killed everyone, Jack is still alive. Can be any kind of apocalypse, and feel free to include flashbacks of the rest of the Torchwood team, but at least part of it must take place a century later and Jack is the only one left. Past Jack/Ianto is great, but please no past Jack/Gwen.' I think I stuck to it fairly closely.
