Summary
Seven years have passed since Vegeta’s sacrifice and Cell’s defeat. With the world now in a relative state of peace, people have moved on. Life has moved on. Only Goku feels like he lives with one foot constantly in the past, waiting for Vegeta to return from his “job” in Otherworld.
He gets that wish, for one day, what Vegeta calls a “day off.” But what was supposed to be the reunion Goku waited so long for turns into something different. Something he didn’t want at all, since Vegeta only had this one day. Something that brings out the unsaid words and feelings that have festered inside Goku for a long, long time.
The perfect prey for someone like Babidi.

Goku just smiles broadly back at him though, shrugging a shoulder in that effortlessly careless way only he’s ever been able to manage. “Wherever you want. The world is our limit.”
Vegeta doesn’t budge an inch. “And what if I want to go somewhere else?”
Goku’s smile softens. A lump lodges in Chi Chi’s throat as Goku steps closer, bracketing Vegeta against the tree, leaning down slightly into his space. That look is still there but it’s different, somehow it’s different.
“I’m sure we can figure something out,” Goku murmurs.
Or, five times a Z Fighter sees Goku love Vegeta... and the one time a Z Fighter sees Vegeta love Goku back.

On April 26, two of my fandoms unexpectedly collided, and the release date of “The Long Game” coincided with Kakavege Week's “Secret Relationship” prompt. WTF?! How did the stars of two of my favorite rivals-to-lovers ships align to inspire this crack crossover AU porn-with-feelings-and-plot? It was a sign from the fanfic gods that this fic had to escape the darkest depths of my ADHD-ridden brain and be shared with all three of us in the world. You don’t need to know anything about the book or hockey to enjoy this fic, but you should read the series, because it's a 10/10! More info in author's notes.
