Adolescence is never easy, especially in a place like the Akademiya, and when summer draws near and the semester wanes, students prepare to scatter to chase futures and freedom. Most look for just a moment of brief silence from the noise. But for Kunikuzushi, time has felt frozen for a long while now.
While everyone else rushes forward; laughing in corridors and chasing deadlines, he remains stuck. A constant in a world that won’t stop moving and amid the now silenced corridors, unlikely friendships begin to take root. Devotion forms in the quiet dorms, trust flickers in late-night conversations, and fears begin to surface. The kind that textbooks can’t explain and at the heart of the Akademiya's rumour mill is Kunikuzushi; brilliant, sharp-tongued, and seemingly plotting alone. His story is well known, or so everyone claims. It’s spoken about in passing glances and half-true whispers, and those rumours cling to him like dust. But stories, especially the ones people think they already know, are fragile things. Easy to tear apart if someone dares to read between the lines. And the latest progression had been just another ripple in a storm that's been brewing for longer than anyone cares to ask about.

The vivid clarity of the world around himself, draped in a dark cloak of night that his enhanced eyes saw through as if it were but a thin sheet; the crisp autumn air tickling the inside of his nostrils with such saturation that it almost felt like he could taste the coming winter on the tip of his tongue. The breeze that came from this altitude tickled his bare skin, and despite its ineffectual chill against his strengthened flesh, goosebumps climbed up his neck from the tactile sensitivity he bore against its breath.
Everything felt so real, realer and fresher than it's ever been. If that made sense, which it probably didn’t.
His senses then were just so alive that he didn’t think he could recall a time he’d ever been so… aware, of everything.
Toji fucking Fushiguro. Who would've guessed. In the middle of Shibuya too, like, really?

Jason Todd grew up with a fundamental fear of being seen. Not in the sense of shyness, but in the sense of shame. He supposed, if he wished to contemplate the fear’s origins, he might start where most tragedies do:
The house he grew up in.
Where the act of wanting was as good as a death sentence to that desire.
He supposed he might even make an argument for the statement “people become what they are called”. He thinks that might have some merit, looking back.
