But this curse doesn't fit any known classification. Neither does the patient himself—surprisingly likable, intelligent, at times disarmingly normal. The more Hermione asks, the more clearly she sees that the answers she seeks aren't found in medical books—they're in him. And he's not willing to give her all of them.

Summary
After the death of both his parents, Draco is sent to live with the Tonks family under quiet supervision. Grief-stricken, angry, and increasingly isolated, he returns to Hogwarts burdened by a legacy he no longer believes in and a desire for revenge he's not sure how to carry out.
Meanwhile, Hermione is trying — and mostly failing — to make sense of Ron (who has become a potions progidy overnight with the help of a certain textbook), and why patrolling the castle with Malfoy is the only time her brain actually shuts up.
The war is getting closer. The lines are blurring. And somewhere between patrols, potion assignments, and almost-friendship, two people who were never meant to understand each other start to.
Fic covers some canon events from sixth year & eventually the deathly hallows.

She moved to rush forward in surprise at their proximity, however his hand found her hip again, steadying her. When she met his eyes, his hand lingering over her robes, she felt that flush creep up her neck again.
His hand disappeared from her hip and his eyes broke contact as he looked out at the elevator doors. In the moment that followed, they arrived at the floor of the DMLE and both Draco and Hermione shuffled out the doors towards the bullpen.
Through the entire meeting, Hermione’s skin tingled from where his hand had been over her Ministry robes. She remained completely unaware that across the room, Draco’s fingers twitched in a similar way, longing to reunite with her."
