Jack watched two dogs across the street sniff each other warily while their owners struck up a friendly chat. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Jake watching him.
“And the therapy helps?” Jake asked, quietly.
Jack nodded, softly. It felt like a lie. Nothing could help, not really. It didn’t bring Elise back. It didn’t fix his leg. The therapy just kept Jack alive long enough to find something else worth living for. Short of ridding the world of violence, therapy was the best thing he could recommend to this kid.

Jake had been ghosting Robby since the night of Pittfest, which was for the two of them to sort out. It was none of Jack's business. At least, it was none of his business until he ran into Jake outside his therapist's office and accidentally started mentoring the kid.

INCIDENT: Between 0630 and 0700 a young mixed-race boy (approx. 16 months old) was left in a bassinet on the doorstep of the station of the 99th Precinct. Attached to the bassinet was a note indicating that the parent could no longer care for the child and he was to be turned over to city services. Precinct is working to investigate the matter.

Michael Robinavitch could not win
At least, that’s what he thought.
Despite trying his best to improve his life, a string of unfortunate events leaves Robby wondering why he even tries. In his vulnerable state, Robby makes a stupid decision with the help of a box of cheap wine and hair bleach.
Now sporting some bleach blonde hair, Robby is questioned by many of the doctors and nurses in the ER for his questionable decision. Despite that, Jack Abbot embraces Robby for who he is, even if Robby doesn't know who that is yet.
