Summary
A creature, half man half fish, with scales the color of sunset, tears at the ropes- bearing its teeth and hissing. It thrashes frantically, and Charlie almost feels bad.
Instead, Charlie’s stunned, watching the creature’s shifting scales and flowing fins spill across the deck.
He almost- He could’ve just-
“What is that?” He whispers, doubting he’s even heard over the ruckus, but Schlatt gives him a yellow toothed grin.
“We’ve done caught ourselves a merman.”
Or; Charlie, freshly 21 and new to life on the sea, accidentally joins a pirate crew intent on hunting down a mythical object unheard of to man. Courting a merman and getting mermaid-hitched was not the plan.

“He’s just a child.” Phil answers distractedly, humming as his wings get gently yanked at.
“He’s the first of three to destroy life as we know it! Shouldn’t we, well, get rid of him?!”
“Oh, no.” Phil raises his eyes with a sharp glare. “Believe me, I have my own way of preventing the apocalypse.”

Or, Techno, Wilbur, and Tommy are basically chaotic forces of nature, destined from birth to end the world and bring destruction. Most who hear of the tale of them are trying their best to track them down, and to end the monsters while they’re still young, still just children.
Phil has a different plan.
(In which Phil raises the minecraft equivalents of the anti-christ with love and support, so much so to the point where the world ending is really just a funny thought, and Phil has three kids who casually have powers that are bit more extreme than anything else in the world)

Too many responses to count flashed through Tommy’s mind. This man was going to kill him, there was no denying that. No denying that Tommy had been stupid. That mantra had gotten him through the night, sure, but it wasn’t true, and now he was going to die.
In the forest, he didn't know what was coming to kill him. Now, though, he knew it would be this man, with his soft cloak and softer eyes, Tommy wasn’t so afraid.
Might as well encourage him to make it quick.
“Because I know where you live, you rebel fuck,” he spat. “I know exactly where we are.”
