    Set 1.5 years after Lovers, Hunters.

    What Caitlyn did not expect was the sudden pinch and tearing of her skin in her right shoulder area, her landing on the ground and feeling a burn in her arm followed by a warm sensation of blood.

    For the first time in her life, she had been shot.

    Her thoughts went to one thing and one thing only:

    Violet.

    Set two years after the war, Cait and Vi continue to build their lives together and face the challenges that come with Cait's new role as Sheriff and Vi's new search for purpose and an actual job. All of their peace is threatened when a criminal organization known as The Children of Zaun invade their lives and turn it upside down.

    I had originally posted a version of this a few days ago, that one had references to cult violence and cult themes based on the cult I was raised in. A family member found out and gained access to my A03 and deleted the story and the finalized draft from my computer. If you read the first few chapters of the original version, parts will seem familiar but this is a largely different fic. Hopefully it will serve the story even better than the original version.

    This is a post episode 8 look at Cait and Vi and how they navigate their relationships while also healing from all the trauma in their lives. It also acts as a study into the Kiramman Family dynamics, how Cait moves past her time with Ambessa, and how Vi handled life during her Pit Fighter phase.

    Flashbacks with Maddie, Ambessa and others serve as missing scenes to give a look into the thought process and reasoning behind much of what we saw in the show.
    This is part 1 of a show continuation i was asked to write. It's pre-written and I will be post approx. 3 chapters per day most days :)

    FYI the full title used to be Lovers, Hunters: The Clouds are Hanging Low.

    NOTE: Not all flashbacks are in order, but you should be able to figure the timeline out.
    TW: There's Maddie/Cait Sex and Vi/stranger danger sex.

    Caitlyn allowed herself to indulge in the sight of her. Taking in every detail, no matter how small. The messy, uneven growth of the short side of her hair. The slowly healing cut slicing its way through the tattoo on her cheek. Dark circles under wide eyes, affectionate and present, yet with a lingering sadness that made Caitlyn’s heart ache for her.
    “How are you doing?” Caitlyn asked quietly.
    The answer to her question was a slow, measured exhale. Silence, presumably while Vi debated how truthful of an answer to give. Her brows knit together in a frown while her eyes never left Caitlyn’s.
    “You can be honest with me,” Caitlyn added, reaching across the narrow space between them to rest her hand on Vi’s forearm, stroking her thumb lightly across her skin. “If you’d like to.”

    When the smoke clears, Caitlyn and Vi do their best to navigate the way their lives have changed in the aftermath. The good and the bad. The weight of old wounds and the fresh sting of new ones. But Caitlyn makes a discovery that gives them an unexpected hope. And they find that, together, this new life might just be something they can both get used to.

    25-year-old Caitlyn Kiramman is, well, a Kiramman. Everything she does has to sparkle, and it’s been that way since she was a child living in Piltover, attempting to shine beneath her mother’s thumb and her father’s loving but wary gaze. When she gets the chance to flee to the other side of the country in Zaun, all she can see is promise. With a rare jolt of spontaneity, she packs her bags and hops on the plane to ZAX, where she’s sure to find her delightful best friend Jayce and his small but well-designed apartment awaiting her arrival.

    Except that when she lands on the other side of the country with nearly everything she owns shoved in two oversized suitcases, Jayce has some news: he’s moving out, with his brand new fling, to another city entirely. Oh, and he found her a roommate.

    Or, Caitlyn finds herself on the other side of the country, alone, with a pink haired roommate with an attitude problem and one hell of a job.

    Vi does porn. Professionally.

    And fuck if Cait’s not sucked right into Vi’s aura.

    Multi-chapter modern AU with lots of smut (I promise) and a side of plot (I’ll try)

    Inspired by “The Roommate” by Rosie Danan, one of my favorite books of all time (so go read that too).
