Summary
Exhausted and broken by Sirius’s death, Harry gives up any reason to live. When the Order comes to get him, they are greeted by an empty, dull gaze. His friends, who had ignored him, suddenly start to worry, but nothing works, nothing makes him react – not even Malfoy’s jabs, who himself is worried about his lifelong rival. When Voldemort learns of this, he sees it as a boon, and so he decides to haunt the dreams of his prophesied enemy, but what awaits him is nothing like what he had planned.

As he receives the letter informing him of his expulsion from Hogwarts for defending himself, Harry breaks. It’s as if all his hopes shatter at once, irreversibly.
