His first and foremost thought had been this: Gansey and Blue and himself, driving into a new horizon, the sunlight casting a crown of gold over Gansey’s head and Blue’s hand trailing out of the window, sailing through the wind. It was an idyllic image borne of Henry’s idyllic hopes.

“You and Sonja. You were together for like, a long time, right? Like it was really serious.”
Even isn’t sure where this is going and he’s already getting uncomfortable, but he decides to go with it because Noora looks miserable, and he tries to make a policy of making people less miserable when he can. “Yeah,” he says. “Yeah, we got together when we were fifteen and it lasted -- until Isak.”
“And it was shitty. At the end, I mean.” She looks at him now, and there’s a sort of desperateness in her eyes that he’s never seen in her before.
Even sucks in his lip. “I mean, it had been shitty for a really long time. It’s a long story.”
Noora makes a small sound that’s almost a snort, but there’s nothing cruel in it. “I have a long story, too.”

Sana laughs, a bright sound that makes Noora’s chest ache. Then, she seems to realize that Noora was being serious and she says, “Allah loves all of creation. Allah loves you.” She waits for a moment before asking, “What made you think of that?”

Noora’s lips are painted red. Noora’s hair is fair and soft and the same colour as her face, and she is wearing that top that shows off her collar bones. She’s doing that thing where she talks to everyone but doesn’t actually talk to anyone- flitting around the room and smiling big and getting this distant, glazed over look on her face every now and then.
Eva doesn’t think anybody else notices.
