Summary
Everyone in this Monastery had had years to adapt to the change, to get used to it, to start living it. Jay had mere months, and those months had been spent trapped in his room. He hadn’t been gradually introduced to these changes, he hadn’t experienced things changing one by one.. He was thrown in at the deep end and he couldn’t swim. Instead, he was just a weight sinking right to the bottom.
And he sure felt like he was drowning.
OR
Months after getting his memories back, Jay is struggling to cope. Trying to act like things were normal, that they could be normal again, seemed to be his only way of keeping sane. Or so he thought..

Summary
Jay awoke from the nap with a replenished sense of purpose and, in a daze, set to transcribing the section of the ship he had seen in his dream. He had done this so many times before that it was mostly just a game of fitting the new information into his pre-existing understanding of the structure.
It went like this: the long hallway he had walked through in the dream could match almost anywhere in the current iteration of the floorplan, but the windows meant it had been positioned on the rim of the hull. Furthermore, the silhouette of an anchor he could see outside the furthest one meant that it had to be leading towards the bow of the ship. This was a strong start; it was a lot harder to work with dreams of lone rooms lacking windows, ones that he was only even sure belonged to the ship by the matching aesthetics and rocking sensation.

Jay fumbles a meeting with the Administrator, has an afternoon nap, and makes a mess of his office in that order.

It was only visible for a moment. Caught somewhere between a blinding glow and deafening snap, Jordana saw laces of energy unravelling from flesh, lurching and weaving and alive. It was captivating like nothing had ever been before. She wondered what it felt like to wield pure unbridled energy, to live fast-paced and self-assured. There was no hesitation from master nor element. She didn’t even have time to see it claw into Ras’ arm before he and the man were several feet apart, surroundings fading back to their usual sickly green.
And though the lightning had died down, the electricity was still palpable. The man’s hair was still raised like an agitated animal’s, lifted by an invisible charge.
Ras stayed unmoving, but the glint in his eyes exposed his fixation. He would not leave such insolence unpunished.
