On December 16th, 1991, Tony Stark finds himself on a road-trip from hell. After Tony begrudgingly agrees to accompany his parents on their vacation to the Bahamas for Christmas, Howard Stark insists that they make a few stops before boarding their private jet — first to Stark Industries in Manhattan, and then to Washington D.C. later that evening.
The Winter Soldier's mission brief made no mention of Anthony Stark, but he follows his orders. The Starks never make it to the Bahamas, they don't even make it to D.C.
