A month after the end of the movie, Nimona is still living in the secret lair even after Ballister offered for her to stay with him in him and Ambrosious's house but they still see each other daily (usually Ballister going to the lair). But Bal starts to see patterns in Nimona's behaviour when it comes to Ambrosious so he starts to take matters into his own hands

Summary
“Val- I-I don’t understand. What’s going on?” He reached for Val in desperation, trying to make sense of what was happening but his mind felt fuzzy and he couldn’t decipher the situation.
Val grabbed his hand and pulled Angel close to him. He exhaled pink smoke into his face and Angel felt himself relax into Val’s grip. Val used another hand to grab Angel’s chin tightly, claws digging in but not enough to break his skin.
“You’re not my problem anymore,” Val whispered into his ear. “I have no use for addict trash like you.”
OR
When Val loses Angel to the gambling overlord but makes sure Angel believes he simply didn't want him anymore. Angel is left devastated and unsure of what his new life and master will be like.

“Hey,” he coaxes, gently reaching up to place a hand on Peter’s cheek, pausing just before making contact. Peter sways tiredly, unconsciously leaning into the tender touch. “What’s wrong, bud?”
“Tired,” Peter finally tells him, voice cracking, a desperate sound. “I can’t – I can’t sleep anymore. Too loud.”
Tony closes his eyes for a second, filled with protectiveness and empathy. “Okay,” he says, sounding calm and sure, once he’s opened his eyes again. “We’ll fix this.”
