Summary
Jade’s love was the constant of Kit’s life, until it wasn’t. Until it was ripped away by gunfire, smoke, and the falling snow.
In 1989, Kit Tanthalos was given the serum that turned her into the Realm's Soldier.
In 1993, she lost the love of her life during a routine mission gone horribly wrong.
Eight months later, Captain Tanthalos sacrificed herself to save Andowyne, crashing into the frozen Galladoorn wastelands to stop an atomic bomb. For thirty-one years, she was lost to history until SHIELD operatives recovered her body from the ice. The Captain that saved Andowyne came home, but her Sergeant was still lost.
Until she wasn’t.
A ghost of the woman Kit once loved, a weapon forged in the hands of their enemies. The war they fought together was long over, but a new one loomed ahead. Kit found herself having to face the impossible.

“I missed you too,” Jade had laughed softly into Kit's hair. Indulging in the way Kit didn't seem to want to let her go.
Jade remembered how Kit was blushing after. Remembered following it with her eyes as she tracked the warmth travelling all the way up Kit's ears. The way it lit up her face. Contrasted with those floppy dark locks of hair Jade was so fond of. When Kit pulled back just enough so their eyes could meet Jade didn't recognize the look on her best friend's face until it was too late. Until Kit was leaning in and suddenly nothing else existed.
When Jade Claymore turned 24, Kit kissed her, and nothing was the same.
The universe, karma, some twisted string of fate; Something must have decided the scales had tipped too heavily in Jade's favor (at least that was how she'd had reasoned it). The balance needed to be restored and Jade endured it as best as she could.
