Izuku has a friend. He doesn’t have many of these so he knows to value them, when he finally makes one. Except… Well. He didn’t exactly become friends with Katsuki. Their friendship has been forced upon them at a very young age.
Does that make it less valuable? Less real? Izuku doesn’t think so.
But just as naturally this friendship happened, they develop new feelings for each other when their teenager years arrive. Izuku doesn't know what to do with these. Katsuki does.

Ever since Izuku's dad left when he was four, his mother had been struggling.
Living with Inko Midoriya was hard, Izuku could admit that, but that didn't mean he loved her any less. She was his mother. Izuku loved his mother more than he could ever describe even if she was an alcoholic. Even if he had to look after himself the majority of the time. Even if he hadn't told a single soul that his mum was far from ok.
