"You should sleep," Jason said, gruffly, because taking shelter behind the safety of a mask was just S.O.P.[Standard Operating Procedure] by now.
It barely mattered, anyways, when Roy could see through it all. There was something deeply fucking scary about that kind of clarity, especially coming from a man who had an insanely high metabolism yet still couldn't remember to eat half the time unless Jason sat his ass down and shoved a plate in front of him.
Maybe that was why Jason still bothered with the mask anyways. Mad-scientist precautions, y'know?
"Can't," Roy mumbled, the words muffled slightly where his lips brushed against Jason's skin. He didn't open his eyes.
It's easy to believe the worst of yourself when the world at large already does.
It's a good thing Jason Todd has friends who are larger than life.
