“Little green men from Mars!” he said as soon as he saw a picture of them. “I knew it. Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find out they’re real.”
“You’d wish they weren’t real,” Gamora said during their briefing, which was really just her relaying the Nova Corps’ offer to the other Guardians as they sat half awake around the planning table. “They abduct people from various planets and put them through the worst kinds of torture. There’s not much known about them, because they don’t tend to let their captives go.”
“Sure they do,” Peter said. “Tons of people on Earth would talk about them.”
“That’s....” Gamora said, shocked. “Not what the Nova Corps said.”
(Gamora and Peter wake up to find themselves captured by a cruel species. Gamora quickly realizes she needs to have sex with Peter, or he will die.)

Summary
Peter lands the pod without any trouble, but the rain continues to beat down on the pod’s windows. Gamora finally relaxes next to Peter when he shuts off the pod, but before he opens it, he takes her hand in his and gives her a comforting squeeze.
“Not the most ideal conditions, but.... I think this’ll be fun!” he says, trying to lighten the mood, despite the gray skies and torrential downpour.
(Peter and Gamora go to a cabin on Berhert for some alone time, but the night doesn't quite go how Peter expected.)

It wasn't the first thing she thought of once the Guardians became, well, the Guardians of the Galaxy.
She'd lived with the mods so long, they were just a part of her now. All the 'upgrades' Thanos made so she would function better. She'd forgotten that the toll they took on her body wasn't natural.
All the pain and side effects- the burning chemicals that polluted her muscles so she could survive longer without oxygen, the artificial and electrical connections that were far from comfortable, the sore joints, the headaches from overloaded nerves- she didn't have to deal with that anymore.
So yeah, she got those fucking mods taken out.

Gamora knew that she should be excited to be starting at her dream school in the fall, but all she could think of was how far Pasadena was from Mississippi and (by the transitive property of things) Peter Quill. She supposed that listening to the worn out iPod shuffle would have to do until she saw him again, whenever that may be.
