    Summary

“Then why do you want to kill me?”

The high pitch laugh that bounces off the walls is hysterical. After a moment, the Joker laughs so hard he sounds like he's sobbing.

His bat might look good in that suit, but he isn’t as bright as the Joker thought he would be. To say… to suggest…

    Jesus, he’s hilarious.

“Kill you? I don’t wanna kill you. What would I do without you? Go back to ripping off mob dealers? No. No. No. No”

    Designs

    Dark, bottomless eyes.

    “You complete me”

    Who was he before Batman?

    He doesn’t remember.

    He doesn’t care.

    He is whole.

He looks at Batman, and blue eyes meet black. God, black eyes. So dark he’s drowning.

    Perfect symmetry.

    ***

A re-write of The Dark Knight where the Joker is a serial killer, and Bruce is just a little fucked up in the head. But this is a romance, of course.

    Summary

Not quite an AU, but certainly another canon mix up!

We bring things forward to the current era of the true crime podcast boom. Will Graham - in between leaving the force and considering a more permanent offer to take up teaching, throws his considerable energy and talent into a true crime podcast with a passionate cult following after this first season on the Minnesota Shrike. His colleague and friend Alana Bloom worries he's falling into dangerous old patterns of 'getting too close' but season two already has him gripped in a fever of research and revelations, now hot on the trail of the newest killer on the block - the Chesapeake Ripper.

Unfortunately for Will, this comes to Hannibal Lecter's attention who finds himself both fascinated and irritated by the rude but brilliant profiler broadcasting his extraordinary insights to any anonymous ear who wishes to hear it. What is to be done about that...

    Summary

England, 1811. Social status is everything, and the obsession of every parent is to see their children married well. For twenty-year-old Omega Will Graham, life in a small Hertfordshire market town with his father, adopted mother and four half-sisters is tranquil, if a little dull. Until, that is, a party of strangers arrives in the neighbourhood, sending every mother within five miles into a frenzy of anticipation. For not only are the newcomers Alpha aristocracy, but one among them - Mr Hannibal Lecter - is the owner of the largest estate in Derbyshire... and single. A pity, then, that Will and Hannibal's first meeting is less than auspicious. But sometimes, fate and circumstance have a way of conspiring to bring together even the most stubborn of individuals...

    Summary

Hannibal is out shopping when the small boy runs up to him and bites him on the hand.

It is not a playful act. The child bites hard, and then he grinds his teeth in and holds on.

There is for Hannibal a moment of outrage, in which he considers striking the child to knock him away. Hannibal’s face curls, for just a microsecond, into a snarl, and astonishingly he realizes that the boy, who is looking up at him with fearsome defiance, his jaws still locked around the side of his hand, has not missed this.

Hannibal sets his face to communicate a shocked but stoic response to the assault, and this is what his father sees, when perhaps three seconds later he crouches next to the boy to coax him into loosening his hold.

AKA, the one where Will is the single father of a troubled little boy, and Hannibal is enchanted by them both.

    Summary

She’s nervous. That’s new. She never gets nervous, at least not about things like this. The behavioral profiler in her wants to examine this feeling, run her fingers over it like running one’s tongue over a toothache. No time for that now. The boy in the bed has her full attention at the moment, frail-looking in his hospital nightgown. He shouldn’t seem so frightening.

“Will, I’m Special Agent Abigail Hobbs,” she introduces herself. “And this is Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Do you remember us?”

“I remember you.” Graham shifts, lifting his gaze higher to meet hers full-on. She gets the impression he doesn’t do this often. Abigail’s mother always warned her the most important moments in her life would come wrapped up in simple ones such as these, their potency drawn from the smallest of actions, and she believes it now, pinned in place by a teenager’s eyes like needles through a butterfly’s wings.

“You’re the woman who killed my dad.”
