TagsSummaryEleven and Nancy have a tendency of taking the long way home. That’s okay. There will always be someone keeping the light on and the door unlocked and their arms open to welcome them back again. Bookmarked by Mantis_197429 Dec 2024 Bookmarker's Tags:Bookmarker's NotesA series of scenes alternating between Eleven and Nancy's points of view during the year between Seasons 1 and 2 and the events of Season 2, drawing parallels between two very different young women, and ending with the main characters' reunion at the Byers' house after the battle to close the gate. This author has an exceptional talent for plucking at our heartstrings (I use the plural, rather than speaking just for myself, because her many reviews make it clear that I was far from alone in being moved to tears by this and several other of her stories). A suggestion: for extra feels, cue El's theme when you get to the line "For now she drifts toward the doorway of Will’s room, shrugs off her coat on the way and lets it drop to the floor." (Fair warning, though – the chemical reaction between heartofwinterfell's prose and that music produces a potent lachrymatory agent.) Then play "Eight-Fifteen" and the following track on that playlist, "The First Lie" (Nancy and Jonathan's love theme) while reading the last section, starting at "She finally came home."
