Summary
But then Scott stopped talking, and Pyro quickly followed suit. The nobleman’s nose scrunched up, his now pointier ears (seriously, how had nobody noticed that? He wasn’t crazy! They just refused to look!) twitched. All that Avid could hear was his own heartbeat. He wasn’t breathing, he wasn’t moving. He refused to let out a single sound. He wasn’t ready, not to go against two of them. Maybe if he’d just come across one of them by themselves, he could have… surely if it was Pyro. Scott he was far more afraid of.
“It sounds like we have company”. Following Scott’s words, everything moved in slow motion. The vampire’s head turned, their eyes locked together, and then Avid was running.
He didn’t know where he was going. There was nowhere for him to run. He was far away from town, outside of any proper path, and, most importantly, nobody believed him. Nobody had tried going after him. He had no allies left. Nobody would have known if he had died.
Avid was going to die.

Summary
“Scott is the problem,” Legundo continued, “This isn’t about humans versus vampires, this is about Oakhurst versus the ones who wish us ill.”
Avid snapped to attention, narrowing his eyes in slight confusion as he looked at Legundo. Scott? How could Scott be the main problem when he hadn’t hurt anyone before? Cleo had even said so herself just this morning that he was harmless compared to Owen. The younger vampire had been threatening the town since what felt like their first few days there. Meanwhile, Scott had truly done nothing harmful to warrant the ostracization that Avid delt unto him.
“It’s just Owen,” he mumbled. He hadn’t expected anyone to hear his voice, but the silence and burning stares of the town felt a bit extreme. “I think Scott’s, actually, – “
“It’s just,” Legundo interrupted, narrowing his eyes, “It’s Scott.”
“– not half bad.”
