Summary
When you were children things were a lot simpler. You and Cross would play your games of Hero and Recuee, he said he'd always be there to protect you. But things changed as you grew older, and now that you are both all grown up, responsibility and station have gotten in the way. Cross is the son of Lord Gaster, and prospective heir to the throne for the childless king and queen. You are merely a lowly human servant, at the very bottom of the hierarchy.
However, you have something not a lot of humans have: magic. This puts you in danger though, because in a society ruled by monsters, humans with magic are feared and eliminated.
Will Cross be able to protect you and your secret when you both learn of it, or will you both get caught in the middle of a fight between the bandit lord Nightmare, and his bounty hunter brother Dream?

But then something happened that took those dreams and ripped them into tiny shreds and left you on the run from the law for the past ten years. Now you see the supposed heroes for what they are, selfish, petty, and dishonest.
But what happens when one of the world's most popular heroes seems to take a liking to you and starts to make you think that maybe there is actually at least one superhero out there who is sincere?
The timing could be better though because right around the moment that this gallant, energetic, charming skeleton starts to warm up to you, you get strong-armed into helping a criminal organization.
Now you're trying to simultaneously keep your head down so you don't get caught by the Agis while working with the mob and a group of small-time villains, and maybe date a superhero all at the same time.
This juggling act can't go on forever, and soon enough your past is about to catch up to you. -

You are a no-shit, snarky writer who maybe drinks a bit too much (but all the great writers were alcoholics too right?) You've built walls around yourself with harsh words to keep all but a select few people out, and you are happy to keep it this way. Except now your small family circle is about to get bigger. Your sister is getting married so now your personal life is being invaded by her fiancé, a too tall, too exuberant, and too cheerful skeleton man who is actually a pretty swell guy (though no one will ever catch you saying that out loud). But that's not all, he also brought along his brother, an annoying, lazy, snickering little skeleton man who is good at pushing all of your rage buttons.
How you are going to make it through this week as preparations for the wedding get under way you have no idea, but your pretty sure it might end with you murdering the short skeleton.
And no you did NOT just laugh internally at that joke...
And no you are NOT just starting arguments with Sans because for some reason you enjoy bickering at him...
And surely the sweet innocent Papyrus is NOT working with your sister on some sort of cunning plan involving both Sans and yourself right now...
