"Hold this, please. I need to cut it."
The soft edge of the bandage tickles Kaveh's fingers, and he clutches at it desperately, as if it was his last opportunity to be useful. The sound of scissors cutting through the fabric rings loudly in the silence.
"Hold this one too."
And Kaveh holds. He knows Alhaitham's trying to make him feel helpful, but he feels so miserable it almost physically crashes his bones, makes his limbs weak and numb. He feels powerless.

Summary
Alhatham’s been shitty. This shouldn’t be and really isn’t a surprise, but it’d be nice if Kaveh had some sort of measure or meter to warn him before the man pulls out some new shitty tactic to make Kaveh feel bad about himself, because at least then it’d be–not bearable , but he’d at least be prepared for it.
And it’s not some big and shocking revelation that Alhaitham’s words cut Kaveh deep, all the way to the bone and further past that. It’s just that Kaveh has been under the impression that Alhaitham had a semblance of knowledge on when to stop, or at least when to apologize, in his own pretentious way. He knew which topics upset Kaveh, which ones to avoid and not poke at him about.
Or: Five times Alhaitham says something he probably shouldn't have. Scratch that, he definitely shouldn't have, along with the five times he apologizes.

Summary
In a home full of silence, Kaveh feels the need to escape - if only for one night. An unexpected event leads to long-since buried feelings being revealed amidst a haze of recovery and vulnerability.
(Alternatively: It only takes Kaveh being attacked for him and Alhaitham to realise how much they do actually care for each other. Which, as it happens, is a lot.)
