Jay Gatsby was a man with an inclination for the dramatic and the will to manifest all the romanticized scenarios he dreamed up. Such was the case one night when he stood in his yard, not another soul in sight, with every light in his house turned on. There was a reason for this. There was always a reason when Gatsby did such things. On that night the reason was Nick Carraway. Gatsby needed to have a word with him when he returned from the city. More than a word hopefully, if everything went as he hoped.

Tom remembered all the hours they’d spent listening to long drawn out speeches that he either didn’t pay attention to or couldn’t understand. He’d never seen much point in going to church.
