He waves a hand, like an imitation of what he had done before. “It leaks.”
…Daisuke spares another glance towards medical. Unsatisfied, he feels, whispered in his head. He feels just like he did at the start of this internship. Out of place. Missing something.
Whatever that was, it hadn’t scratched the itch. And Daisuke was beginning to think it was going to fester if he didn’t do something about it soon.
OR: something isn't sitting right when daisuke finds out that curly crashed the ship. this spirals, as things tend to.

It's like a flip switched. Or- no, it didn't switch. There was no switch, that's just how it always was - Daisuke was the one who was closing his eyes to the flashing red.
He realized it before the crash. Though, it didn’t process until Jimmy’s frayed ends were pulled at more and more, and it got harder to ignore the signs.
And even now, it's still hard to believe the sight.
Because... because it's what everyone told him, wasn't it?
He’s an optimist, too naive to catch the mood of a room. A useless, goddamn good for nothing, never-worked-a day-in-his life kid.
And yeah... that's all true.
But is he an optimist for hoping that he, deep down, isn't what they label him as?
Or is he a coward for not accepting that fact about himself?
...
He looks at the half empty bottle of mouthwash pushed to the far corner of the lounge, easily still in reach.
It's about time you start pulling your weight around here.
Or ; If Jimmy was more direct in his wording; If Daisuke was just a little more aware. And how it makes the useless, goddamn ray of sunshine on the ship lose its shine

Summary
His head hurts like it’s being split open, and Daisuke is falling, falling, falling into the dark ether.
For a blissful moment, there is no pain. There is no Daisuke. There is only nothingness.
Then, suddenly, there are bright lights. Daisuke opens his eyes, blinking rapidly.
He’s in the main lounge of the Tulpar.

After he dies, Daisuke wakes up right before the crash of the Tulpar. He hears something he wasn’t supposed to, and it puts the events of the past into a whole new perspective. He decides to do something about it before it’s too late again.
