Caitlyn blinked the sleep from her eyes, almost in shock that she had received a response already. Gay panic was setting in and fighting with her morals.
Hesitant and heart racing, her finger hovered over the notification until she gained enough courage to click the screen and began to read the email.

Hey Caitlyn,
So, I guess I’m supposed to introduce myself, right?
I’m Vi. I’m in prison (obviously). Been here a while, not sure how much longer. I like reading, working out, and keeping my mind busy. Mostly keep to myself. I’m not gonna pretend I’m thrilled about this pen pal gig, but I don’t mind writing. It’s something to do.

Now that Caitlyn is only sending sideway glances her direction, dancing around that guy, swaying her hips in a way that’s got to be illegal Vi isn’t so sure anymore because something is burning inside of her. Something else than the familiar desire when she looks at her girlfriend. Something ugly and stinging, an anger that’s eating her up from the inside and makes her wants to claim Caitlyn, claim what’s hers. Show everyone who she belongs to.

“Piltover?” Vi asks, looking back at Ekko who just shrugs. She takes a step closer to Caitlyn, invading her space. “Let me ask you something– Caitlyn–was it?” Her voice is so close to her face. “You got a last name?” Caitlyn feels her stomach drop at the question.
“Well, actually…this might sound mad–” Caitlyn starts. She turns away from Vi, in need of some reprieve. She rubs her brow with the tips of her fingers, as if she could conjure up a better answer. “I don’t know my last name. I was found wandering around when I was about nine years old,” Caitlyn says sheepishly.
Vi nods, as if she understood. “And, uh, before that– before you were nine?” She brings her finger to her chin.
“Look, I know I must sound ridiculous, but I genuinely don’t remember. I have– very few memories of my past.” Caitlyn looks down at her hands clasped in front of her now. Her thumbs rub together.
Vi looks back at Ekko again, huffing a small laugh.
“Well I do have one clue, I suppose. And that is Piltover."
