Following TSbBS, Blair is recruited to join the SGC (instead of joining the Cascade police force, where he'll never fully be trusted or fit in) and finds a world with Sentinel rituals based on the Maya and Aztec. This is a series I've re-read several times over the years.

    Summary

A fourth year fic. Harry is stuck in something he doesn't want to be in, Dumbledore's a manipulative bastard, Voldemort wants Harry dead, the school hates him...sounds like every year right? Well this year Hermione has a brilliant idea (or more than one) and her idea(s) change Harry's life, her life, and a big black dog's life too. AU and no idea which genre to put this under.

    59k words, 14 chapters, from 2015:

Hermione figures out that Harry doesn't have to actually risk his life in the Triwizard tournament, not having submitted his own name in the first place, and with the help of her parents manages to get herself, Harry, Sirius, and her parents relocated to a Potter estate near Madrid, Spain. When Harry and Sirius withdraw their combined assets and investments from an ungrateful wizarding Britain, the Purebloods eventually get what they've always wanted, and are all the poorer for it. Harry sets up a scholarship to enable all muggleborn students to study abroad, at better schools than Hogwarts.

This story deals seriously with the emotional and mental problems Harry has from his abused childhood and prolonged exposure to the dark magic in his scar, as well as the extra strain it puts on Hermione to be in a relationship with him, no matter how much she loves him. But Harry and Sirius both get years of therapy, and it all has a healthy, hopeful, happy ending . . . for just about everybody except magical Britain, Dumbledore, and Voldemort.

Compare to Bobmin356's much longer epic The Power of the Press, in which Harry supposedly loses his magic and relocates to Fiji to continue his magical education, rather than stay at Hogwarts and participate in the TriWiz. Meanwhile, the press convinces the magical world that Voldemort must also be powerless, so as long as 'Harry Potter' is presumed to be less than a squib, Voldemort has no chance of gaining power (even Nagini has read the Prophet and thinks he's just 'food' in his homonculus form).

    Summary

When Hermione gets cursed at the Ministry, Harry and the Death Eaters discover the power he knows not. Unleashing this power has far reaching consequences. Weasley and Dumbledore bashing – time travel story that's hopefully different.

Proof-reading problems aplenty, but still an irresistible read from 2008-9.

This is the one where Harry and Hermione die as soul-mates during the battle at the Ministry, and in order to fulfill their destiny they're sent back in time to the night they rescued Sirius in 3rd year. They end up leading a walk-out of over a dozen students, found their own Potter Institute of Spells and Sorcery near Naples, Italy, and manage to kill or otherwise dispose of almost all the Death Eaters in the UK.

Also, Voldemort is resurrected as a giant squirrel. :)

RobSt's re-imagining of this early and much-loved story, (Proud Parents, 2018-present), is still a work in progress at 38 chapters and over 266k words, but seems to be nearing its conclusion.

    ********SPOILERS AHEAD******

Some other favorites by RobSt (from shorter to longest), all Harry/Hermione:

    9. Who Will Fill a Coward's Grave?, 143k words, 22 chapters (2016-18): Hermione slips Harry a mobile phone while kissing him goodbye at King's Cross at the end of 4th year, so he'll have a way to contact her during the summer without Dumbledore or anyone else knowing . . . which comes in handy when the Dursleys soon ditch Harry in London rather than taking him back to Little Whinging. When the Malfoy males come to Hermione's home to kidnap her and bring her as a gift to Voldy, Harry is able to kill them, but not before they murder Hermione's dad, and Harry's new lethal approach to Death Eaters -- while it appalls Dumbledore -- sets an example the rest of the Order is glad to follow. This is the one where Hermione's mum provides the Order of the Phoenix and allies with mobile phones (just the start of the mobile phone revolution in magical Britain) and becomes P.M. John Major's best asset in responding to magical threats (dementors and Voldemort) against the non-magicals of Britain, while Dumbledore is frozen out of the halls of power after Voldemort's final defeat with the help of muggle armed forces.

    10. In This World and the Next, under 165k words, 26 chapters (2009-10): The one where Ron rapes Hermione at the end of the battle of Hogwarts and the purebloods regain total control of wizarding Britain, leading to both Harry and Hermione getting their souls sucked out by the same Dementor to satisfy vengeful Weasleys and Malfoys, while Hermione's parents are helpless to intervene, but the love between the young couple destroys the Dementor and kicks their souls (and the souls of the Granger parents) back in time to September 1, 1991, with the kids on the train to Hogwarts for the first time but now with payback on their mind. Ginny and the Weasley twins are redeemable (and Arthur and even Molly, eventually), Percy becomes plant food and Ron becomes a squib girl, while Dumbledore's dementia becomes more and more obvious, leading to his complete breakdown, while the Potters (yes, they were magically married on the train that first day) and their family and friends celebrated Christmas 1991 (and the destruction of Voldemort) in Australia. This is also the one where the Potters invite a bunch of their Hogwarts year-mates (and new neighbors Luna and Ginny) to experience a muggle theme park for Hermione's (second) 12th birthday, leading to similar outings to the Ministry and Gringotts.

    11. You're My Density, 237k words, 33 chapters (2015-16): Harry loses his temper at his trial after 4th year and has his magic bound and his memories (and those of the Dursleys) altered, to be one big happy non-magical family, but that leaves Magical Britain to Voldemort's rule, and a desperate Hermione Granger picks up university student Harry Potter in a college pub, to convince him to let her take them back in time to 1st year and stop magical Britain's slide into a Voldemort-ruled house of horrors. Or at the very least, save Harry's life and maybe a few others. [Spoiler: This is the one where Lockhart obliviates himself AND Voldemort in Albania.]

A long-time favorite from FFN, in spite of some proof-reading issues, this is the one where Harry gets some PTSD help and finds a technological way to strip away any magic that has been placed upon a person by someone else (and also a way for the muggle authorities to protect themselves from magic, while kicking butt with modern weapons). Very interesting insights into why magical society is so weak and prone to dark lords.
