It was just a stupid pointless summer camp that they were forced to go to. Neither John or Hickory knew anybody there anyway, so any friend they made would probably be forgotten after all of it was over.

Why did it feel so wrong to just forget about each other? Hickory asked himself but never actually acted upon it. John Dory however had much different plans. He knew he had to see Hickory again

Summary
After leaving the tree, John Dory travelled, going to lots of different places and territories, while also meeting lots of other different trolls, one in particular who soon became his partner. 5 years later, he got to a point where he knew he needed to go back for his brothers, and with his partner's encouragement John actually finds the strength to return to his family. Unfortunately he chose the best and the worst day to come back.
